Business License Renewal Reminder 12/3/2025

To avoid penalties or interruption of your business operations, please submit your renewal application and payment by March 31st.

You can complete your renewal online through the Sages Portal at https://www.sagesgov.com/southfulton-ga or visit the Business Licensing Division in person at 5440 Fulton Industrial Blvd SW, Atlanta, GA 30336.

Important System Update

Please note that the City of South Fulton is in the process of transitioning from the Sages Portal to the Tyler Technologies system for business licensing and revenue services. During this transition, some processes or links may temporarily change. Updated instructions and links will be provided on the City’s website and through email notifications once the new system is live.

Please upload or provide the following documents with your renewal application:

  • Copy of gross receipts for prior year (Supporting Financial Documents Required)
  • Number of employees for prior year
  • Current State of Georgia Business Registration (Secretary of State Certificate, if applicable)
  • Government-issued photo ID of the business owner or authorized agent
  • Lease agreement or property ownership verification (if location has changed)
  • Professional or regulatory licenses (if required for your business type)
  • Updated notarized SAVE and E-Verify affidavits
  • Current Occupation Tax Certificate (if applicable)

Failure to renew your license by the deadline may result in late fees, citations, or suspension of your business license.

Business License 12/3/2025

If you are an existing business and you are unable to locate your company name. Below may be the potential reason.

  • Business is delinquent (occupational tax renewal is past due for one year or more years)

To add company name to SagesGov please send an E-mail to BusinessLicenses@cityofsouthfultonga.gov

  • Include business name
  • Physical Address and Mailing address
  • Phone number
  • E-mail address.

If you are a new business having difficulty entering your address in SagesGov.

  • Make sure to separate the street name from the street type (road, drive etc..)

If you receive an error message “Address not found in City of South Fulton’s Jurisdiction”.

Fence Permit Requirements 12/3/2025

If you are applying for a Fence permit, the following documents must be uploaded with your application:

  • Site plan (must show the property boundaries/lot lines, any easements and all existing structures on the property and the proposed location of the fence.
  • Fence Detail (must show height of fence, width of panels and posts size, type of material and method of connection to any structure).

Homeowners constructing your own fence, will need to include the following documents along with the fence detail and site plan:

  • Homeowners Affidavit – must be signed and notarized
  • Proof of Ownership (tax documents, copy of deed, etc.)
  • Owner’s Driver’s License (or valid state issued identification card)

Homeowners hiring a Contractor to construct your fence, will need to include the following documents along with your fence detail and site plan:

  • Fence Contractor’s Information: include contractor information on application and upload a copy of the company's  business License and photo identification
  • Proof of Ownership (tax documents, copy of deed, etc.)
  • Owner’s Driver’s License (or valid state issued identification card)
  • Authorized Permit Agent Form (this form gives you permission to apply for the permit on behalf of the contractor).

Contractors applying for permits will need to submit the following information along with the fence detail and site plan:

  • A copy of Business License
  • Driver’s License (or valid state issued identification card)

 

 

 
 
Important Information for Online Permits 7/9/2021

Please note the following information for online submittals:

  • Business hours are Monday-Friday, 8:30a.m.-5:00p.m.  All account requests or applications submitted after business hours, will be reviewed on the following business day.
  • Monitor your email as detailed information about your project will be sent to the email address on file.  
  • Applications received after 4:30p.m. will be reviewed for intake on the following business day.
  • A maximum of 5 projects per applicant/contractor per day is permitted.  
  • If you have further questions or concerns, please contact the Permitting Division at permits@cityofsouthfultonga.gov

 

 

 

Monitoring the Status of Your Project 7/9/2021

Please monitor your account for the status of your project.  Click on your project to view the review due date, review status and fees due.  This information is available online 24 hours a day.   

Once your project has been submitted, please monitor your email, as Sages will send all communications to your email address on file.  You will be notified when your project has been:

  • Accepted for Intake
  • Additional Files are Requested (additional information may be needed to accept the intake of your application)
  • Fees are Due 

 

 

 

 

Residential Swimming Pools 12/3/2025

If you are applying for a residential swimming pool, please complete the Residential Building Permit application.  

  • All private pools must be completely enclosed by a fence, wall or building not less than 5' high with self-closing, positive latching gates per Zoning Code 19.3.12
  • A separate fence/wall permit is not required when included at the time of the pool permit application. The fence must be shown on the site plan.
  • Pools must be located in the side or rear yard only.
  • The pool, pool equipment, and pool deck must be 10’ from all property lines.
  • Decks must be included in the total square footage.

The following items are required for your project:

  • Homeowners Affidavit (if you are completing the work yourself)
    • Proof of Ownership (copy of deed or tax records)
    • Driver’s License
  • Contractor Credentials (if you are hiring a contractor to perform the work)
    • Contractors Business License
    • Contractors State License
  • Authorized Permit Agent Form (if you are applying on behalf of a contractor)
    • Form must be signed and notarized
    • A copy of the Permit Agent’s driver’s license
  • Site Plan- the site plan must show:
    • Contours (soil and erosion control);
    • the dimension of the pool;
    • Indicate that an alarm will be provided for the back door;
    • Indicate that an alarm will be provided to the gate to the back yard, in which, the gate will have to be a self-closing gate;
    • If you are building a deck around the pool, this must be shown on the site plan.

 

Solar Panel Permits 12/3/2025

Solar panels require an electrical and possibly a building permit application.  Inspections would need to be scheduled and conducted to ensure the safety and building code compliance.  The following information is required:

SOLAR PANEL APPLICATIONS :

  • Electrical Permit Application
  • Solar Electrical Plans
  • Note:  For commercial solar projects located on rooftop, a Structural Compliance letter from a registered State of Georgia Engineer is required. 
  • Contractor Credentials
    • A copy of business license
    • A copy of driver’s license
    • Authorized Permit Agent Form (if you are applying on behalf of a contractor) 
      • Form must be signed and notarized
      • A copy of the Permit Agent’s driver’s license

SOLAR PANEL APPLICATIONS WITH ROOF MODIFICATIONS:

  • Building Permit Application
  • Contractor Credentials
    • A copy of business license
    • A copy of driver’s license
  • Roof plans
  • Solar Electrical Plans
  • Drawings showing the roof modification
  • Authorized Permit Agent Form (if applying on behalf of the contractor/owner)
    • Form must be signed and notarized

Building Plan Review 12/3/2025

In continuing our efforts to ensure the safety of residents and visitors in the City of South Fulton, beginning June 1, 2021, building plans will be required for residential projects. Building plan review is necessary to determine if your project is in compliance with local and state building codes, the zoning ordinance and other county and state ordinances and/or regulations. The residential plan review is done simultaneously with all other required reviews; therefore, it will not extend the time in which it takes for your permit to be approved.  The following projects that will require residential plan review:

  • Additions
  • Basement Finishing
  • Deck Additions
  • New Homes
  • New Townhomes
  • Renovations
  • Sunroom Additions

 

$150 residential plan review fee is applicable.  The following plans are required for submittal:

  • Deck/porch details
  • Elevations
  • Floor framing
  • Floor plan
  • Foundation plan
  • Roof plan
  • Wall section

  • Anyone requiring access to the SagesGov electronic permitting system must register for an account by clicking the following link: https://www.sagesgov.com/southfulton-ga/portal/register.aspx
  • Architects, Builders, Engineers & Contractors must first Register a new account for their Company. They are required to list an account administrator as part of the registration process; once approved they can add additional users from their company under their account.
  • Persons who submit projects for a company should be setup as users under the company by the Administrator and SHOULD NOT register for a separate accounts. 
  • Independent Engineers, Design Professionals etc. may have their own Company/Firm Account or Individual User Account in SagesGov.
  • Accounts are reviewed for approval during normal business hours, Monday - Friday from 8:30a.m. - 5:00p.m.

 

 

Resubmittals 7/9/2021
  • If you need to resubmit your application, please do not create a new application.  Go to your worklist, Click on the project and follow the prompts for resubmitting.  
  • If you are in need of submitting a revision, your review cycle must be completed prior to the system allowing you to resubmit your project.  Please allow for all review agencies to complete their review prior to submitting a revision.
