2027 Business License Renewal Notice
Dear South Fulton Residents and Business Owners:
As we prepare for the upcoming 2027 Business License Renewal Period, the City of South Fulton is providing important information regarding the renewal process and several changes that will take effect this year.
New Business License System
Beginning in October 2026, the City of South Fulton will transition from the current Sages business licensing system to a new system, Tyler. This transition is part of the City's ongoing efforts to improve the business license application and renewal process.
Additional information and instructions regarding the new system will be provided as we approach the transition date. Please be sure to monitor communications from the City for updates and instructions on accessing the new system.
2027 Renewals
The City will begin processing 2027 business license renewals on December 15, 2026. Businesses should ensure that all required information and documentation is available before submitting their renewal application.
As part of the 2027 renewal process, the City will be enforcing the requirement to provide gross receipts documentation for all renewals. Businesses must submit documentation supporting the gross receipts reported on their renewal application.
Acceptable documentation may include:
- Federal or state income tax returns showing business income/gross receipts;
- Profit and Loss (P&L) statement; or
- Business financial statements.
Please ensure that the documentation submitted clearly supports the gross receipts reported on your business license application. Failure to provide the required documentation may result in delays in processing your renewal application. Additional supporting documentation may be requested if necessary to verify the information provided.
Required Renewal Documents
Depending on the type of business and its operations, the following documents may be required:
- Current Government-Issued ID – colored copy;
- Proof of Residency – lease, deed, or residency affidavit;
- Business License Review Form;
- State Registration / Secretary of State (SOS) Registration;
- Gross Receipts Documentation
- Private Employer Affidavit (E-Verify);
- Public Benefit Affidavit (SAVE);
- Trade Name/DBA Notarized Form, if applicable – must be registered with Fulton County;
- Fire Inspection Report, if applicable;
- Professional Practitioner License, if applicable
- Other supporting documentation, as requested based on the type of business, business activity, or information provided on the application.
Please make sure all documents are current, legible, and complete before submitting your renewal application. Missing or incomplete documentation will delay the processing of your business license.
Renewal Deadline and Late Fees
All 2027 business license renewals must be submitted and completed by March 31, 2027.
Beginning April 1, 2027, businesses that have not renewed their business license will be subject to applicable late fees, penalties, and interest in accordance with City requirements.
Late renewal charges include:
- 10% late penalty; and
- 1.5% interest per month on the applicable business license tax/fee for each month the renewal remains delinquent.
Late fees and interest may continue to accrue until the required renewal obligations are satisfied. Businesses are strongly encouraged to renew before the March 31 deadline to avoid additional costs.
Prepare Now
To avoid delays, we encourage all business owners to:
- Gather your required gross receipts documentation.
- Ensure your business information is current and accurate.
- Monitor City communications regarding the transition to the Tyler system.
- Be prepared to submit your 2027 renewal beginning December 15, 2026.
